Summer time has arrived once again, but due to the harsh reality of the cost of living crisis, it seems many will need to scale back the activities this year. So we've put together a list of low-cost things for you to do this summer.
1. Have a picnic at Pittville Park
The park provides a low-cost way to spend the afternoon outdoors loved ones surrounded by the beauty of nature. There are aviaries, children's play area's, skate parks and a boat themed café. Or, you can relax near the lake- just make sure not to get bitten by the swans!
2. Take a hike up Cleeve Hill
Another outdoor based activity involves putting on your boots and heading up a hill. Cleeve Hill is an area of natural beauty, and for those who love to be active, hiking provides the perfect way to combine exercise and nature, all for little to no cost.

3. Go to The Wilson
Who doesn’t love a bit of history? The Holst Victorian House is Cheltenham's only Victorian home, and is the birthplace to famous composer, Gustav Holst.
4. Read a book on the Waterstones balcony
A book a day keeps boredom at bay. From science fiction and romance, to biographies and murder mysteries, there’s bound to be a good book you can sink your teeth into this summer. And why not people-watch at the same time?
5. Go to the National Trust's Snowshill Manor and Garden
Dig out your National Trust card and go on a tour of Gloucestershire’s sixteenth-century country house, most notably owned by Charles Paget Wade, an eccentric who collected a bizarre range of objects he thought were interesting.
6. Swimming at the Sandford Parks Lido
On a hot summer’s day, a good swim is all you need to cool off. Sandford Parks Lido provides just that… let’s just hope there’s chlorine!
7. Make your own ice cream
And why not have a nice refreshing ice cream straight after your swim. It’s low cost and fun to make your own, and with a range of ingredients to choose from, you’re sure to find a perfect treat for yourself.
